Education Goals
Goal 1: Retention
The purpose is to retain all students in grades K-12 through high school graduation in preparation for the future.
The School Success Coordinators partner with the Cultural Liaisons, Ridgewater College, the PAGE Foundation, and the African Coalition to provide job shadows, tutoring, and visits to college campuses. They also offer opportunities to acquire credits for graduation and plan for the future.
Goal 2: Outreach, Mentoring, Role Models, and Youth Leadership
Partnerships:
The purpose is to provide a inclusive and respectful enviroment to attract and retain diverse students and families. The staff will provide behavioral, social, emotional, and economic support for students and families to enhace academics success and family stability by referring to Early Childhood program, social services agencies, workforce center programs, Adult Basic education, and to the GED on TV in English and Spanish Program.
- Community Education Departments provide technical assistance, coordination of services, and youth leadership opportunities.
- DEMO, Inc. provides interactive artwork sessions.
- Willmar Soccer Association provides a summer traveling soccer programs.
- United Way of Kandiyohi County provides youth leadership opportunities for all students in Kandiyohi County.
Goal 3: Language Barrier
Purpose is to promote communication and cultural understanding by providing language assistance in integrated learning environments.
Programs:
- FLES, Foreign Language in the Elementary Schools
- Parents Learning Together / Family Literacy
Goal 4: Creating Cultural Awareness
Expand community cultural awareness so everyone has respect for on another. Educate staff, family, and community members to recognize positive cultural differences in integrated learning enviroments.
